Day 32 - Weston Super Mare to Bridgwater
The
clocks had gone back an hour, so 8am breakfast was no problem. As usual Premier
Inn breakfast was very good. Quick drive to Bridgwater station to catch the 08:55
train to Weston Super Mare.
The
sunny still morning at Bridgwater had developed to another very windy day by
the time we were at the sea front at Weston Super Mare. Today the wind was a
little more westerly, so more a side wind than a head wind.
Out
through a little village called Uphill with a folly and a church perched on the
top of a hill. A little cycleway, “West Mendip Way” provided a few traffic free
miles. A few more miles in the lanes, and after a stop at the Cider Farm
(Purchased some cider) we arrived at the holiday villages of Brean and Berrow.
These were very busy and didn’t look like a good place for a holiday for us.
Burnham
on Sea was next, an all together nicer place to be. We sheltered in the
bandstand from a quick shower. There had been a number of showers and there
were plenty of rainbows. Here we had views over to the Hinkley Point power
station.
A
short bit of main road, then out through the lanes of Stretcholt and Pawlett.
Here we had a rerun of answering the mobile phone to really sad news. Pat’s dad
passed away suddenly when we were on route to John o Groats from Lands End. This
time it was her mum, stunning us both. It had been a lovely day though and we
sadly plodded on till we had a chance to go “home”
